A Focus on Research

The Gladys Marcus Library
The Gladys Marcus Library’s Special Collections and College Archives holds rare books and periodicals, original fashion sketches, photographs, and archives covering such subjects as textile design and art. The library’s participation in resource-sharing programs of the State University of New York and the Metropolitan New York Library Council additionally provides students with borrowing privileges at all SUNY libraries and access to the system’s full-text online services, e-books, digital images, and electronic journals.

The Museum at FIT
The Museum at FIT is a unique resource for students and faculty, drawing visitors from around the world for scholarly study and cultural enjoyment. Founded in 1969, it houses one of the world’s most important and extensive collections of fashion and textiles. While its more than 50,000 garments and accessories date from the 18th century, the collection emphasizes 20th-century and contemporary apparel. Among designers represented are Azzedine Alaïa, Balenciaga, Comme des Garçons, Halston, Charles James, and Issey Miyake.
Gallery FIT
Gallery FIT at The Museum at FIT is dedicated to showing student and faculty work. It offers Graduate Studies students in Fashion and Textile Studies and in Illustration the opportunity to present annual exhibitions that are open to the public.
Alumni Network
Alumni are leaders in a range of fields, achieving success as entrepreneurs and executives, curators and conservators, artists and designers. They take on a variety of creative projects, publishing books and showing work in prestigious exhibitions. Some are designers and design directors for leading brands. Others have titles such as vice president, global supply chain, and vice president, retail and operations .
